Creative Content & Event Planning Intern

Joel is a first-generation Mexican-American Communications and Marketing professional. He graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2025 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and also completed minors in Media Arts & Design and the History of Art & Architecture. He brings a strong foundation in storytelling and strategic communication, with hands-on experience across social media marketing, event marketing, and donor relations. He also has experience working at a PR agency as a Brand Partnerships and Events Intern where he gained skills with brand partnerships and experiential brand activations.

During his time at UCSB, he served as a Development Communications Assistant for the Arts & Lectures department, where he supported donor-facing communications. Joel also served as Event Director for the UCSB Fashion Club, where he led marketing strategy and event production for inclusive, student-centered fashion experiences. In this role, he managed planning and execution for large-scale events, including the club’s annual Runway Show, where he served as both producer and stylist.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, he brings an audience-centered approach to communication. HIs work reflects a passion for building meaningful connections between brands and communities through thoughtful storytelling, creative strategy, and impactful experiences.
