Company History

Change Craft was born from our own lived experiences and a shared belief: that communities deserve campaigns and communications that truly see them. Co-founders Brandon Tate and Calvin Tate began consulting as Change Craft in 2022, before obtaining the firm’s California Small Business Certification and LGBT Business Enterprise® Certification in 2023. Driven by their personal journeys and a deep understanding of the real challenges people face, Change Craft quickly established itself as a trusted partner and creative force, building campaigns that resonate deeply with the communities they’re meant to reach. Headquartered in Sacramento with a second office in Los Angeles, Change Craft specializes in public health, education, and equity-focused campaigns for government and nonprofit clients across California and the U.S.

Brandon’s background as a nationally recognized public health communications strategist and published expert in behavior change communications is grounded in more than two decades of experience. He’s led campaigns for the FDA, CDPH, First 5 California, the County of Los Angeles, and many others—always with an eye toward lifting up those whose voices are too often unheard. Calvin brings his own journey as an immigrant-turned-citizen, creative director, illustrator, culinary artist, and all-around storyteller. His life experiences navigating family rejection and cultural differences give him a unique perspective that fuels our creative approach.

As co-founders and fathers to two young daughters, we bring both heart and rigor to our work. We know what it’s like to face challenges and turn them into something powerful. That’s the foundation of Change Craft: campaigns and strategies that are real, resonant, and rooted in the communities we serve.

Beyond Change Craft, Brandon and Calvin are children’s book authors and co-founders of Magic Nights Publishing, weaving their passion for authentic storytelling into every project. Whether we’re strategizing a statewide health campaign or crafting a new children’s book, we always come back to this: stories and strategies that feel true, build trust, and inspire change.
