Brian Cruse

Director, Insights & Behavioral Strategy

Brian is a behavioral strategy and communications leader with 20+ years of experience designing evidence-based social marketing and behavior change campaigns for organizations, including the US Food and Drug Administration, First 5 California, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and others. He is known for leading integrated communications and behavioral strategy across public health, health equity, substance use prevention, mental health, and sustainability-focused initiatives.

Brian led behavioral strategy for the FDA’s Fresh Empire and This Free Life campaigns, including one of the agency’s first large-scale tobacco-prevention efforts designed for LGBTQI+ young adults. He also led the development of First 5 California’s statewide toxic stress and ACEs education campaign for parents and caregivers. His background also includes consumer brand marketing for campaigns including Gatorade and Las Vegas tourism, bringing a cross-sector perspective to audience engagement and behavior change. Brian is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Social Psychology at Claremont Graduate University with an emphasis in conservation psychology, where his research explores behavioral science, attitudes and persuasion, and social change.
