Why Read These Chapters?
These chapters describe Change Teams, Change Agents,
Champions and Team Coaches, how they work and the contribution they make to
transformation.
We believe that big, old, successful organizations
reinvent themselves for the future not with brute force, but through scores of small
changes implemented by Change Teams.
We believe in using leverage. All systems of a
successful organization are tied together and depend on one another. Making major changes
in lots of small pieces of the operation causes related systems to change too. With enough
of these small, systemic changes, the entire organization takes on a new shape. The
organization transforms ITSELF to accommodate the work of the Change Teams and the
people that support the teams.
If the new processes created by Change Teams have the
time (and the good fortune) to demonstrate some success -- to show that they were worth
the effort -- old values and beliefs that create resistance also transform.
Scores of Change Teams -- nibbling at the giant's
ankles -- cause true and lasting transformation.
